Distractions
are the little things in life but have the potential to consume our everyday
lives….
There
are hundreds of things that can take our attention away so easily these days.
Technology, entertainment, materialism, investments, hobbies and others can if
we are not careful, become an all consuming idol we bow down too.
They
can rob us of our time, finances, and relationships, take joy and peace and in
their place put fear, worry, anxiety and selfishness.
Distractions
can be defined as “a thing that prevents someone from concentrating on
something else” or “extreme agitation of the mind”.
Matthew 6:24 – No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love
the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other…
Mark 4:7;19 – Other seed fell among thorns which grew up and chocked the plants, so
that they did not bear grain…..but the worries of this life, the deceitfulness
of wealth and the desires for other things come in and choke the word, making
it unfruitful.
Moderation
is important to keeping a hobby or passion in its place. Just be careful that
you have control of it, and it doesn’t have control over you.
